How do I choose between 2-way and 4-way stretch for my dance costume?

4-way stretch is essential for high-performance dancewear as it expands both horizontally and vertically, allowing for maximum range of motion. We recommend our heavy-weight tricot for competitive costumes to ensure full coverage and durability.

Can Spandex Palace fabrics be used for professional swimwear?

Yes. Many of our polyester-spandex blends are chlorine-resistant and provide the UV protection needed for swimwear. Our vibrant hologram and foil prints are specially treated to retain their luster even after water exposure.

Is it possible to order fabric samples before committing to a bulk order?

Absolutely. We offer comprehensive color cards for our most popular lines, including our Foggy Foil, Moon Light, and Shattered Glass collections, so you can verify weight and color before purchasing.

Do you offer wholesale pricing for small business owners and studios?

Yes, we support our community through a robust wholesale program. Orders from our Los Angeles warehouse can save up to 35% on bulk quantities, with wholesale pricing from 10 yards, helping costume designers and boutique shops maximize profitability.

What is the best way to care for foil and hologram fabrics?

To preserve the shine of your performance textiles, we recommend hand washing in cold water with mild detergent and hanging to dry. Avoid high heat or abrasive scrubbing, which can dull the metallic finish.

Traditional velvet is woven and rigid, but Performance Velvet (often called Spandex Velvet or Velour) is knitted. To find the correct fabric, you must understand these technical markers:

The Pile & The "Nap": Velvet has a directional surface called the "pile." When you run your hand along it, one way feels smooth (down) and the other feels rough (up). For consistent color on stage, all pattern pieces must be cut with the nap facing the same direction.
4-Way Stretch Base: For leotards, leggings, or form-fitting gowns, a 90% Polyester / 10% Spandex blend is the industry standard. It provides the heavy drape of luxury velvet with the elastic recovery of high-performance athletic wear.
GSM & Opacity: A high-quality performance velvet should be between 250–350 GSM. This ensures the fabric is "squat-pr
oof" and doesn't become transparent when stretched over the body.
